Day to Day
Our journey begins with an overnight flight to Morocco.
After an orientation tour of Casablanca and lunch at one of the best Moroccan restaurants, we’ll rest at our hotel until gathering for our Welcome Dinner at Rick’s café, inspired by the 1942 film “Casablanca”. LD
After breakfast, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of Casablanca, including a visit to Hassan II Mosque and the Mohamed V Square. In the afternoon, we’ll drive to Rabat and enjoy a tea break and an orientation tour. BD
We’ll visit the Mohamed V Mosoleum and Hassan Tower before driving to Fez. On our way, we’ll stop in Meknes to see its Imperial gateway, Bab El Mansour, the Granaries and the Royal Stables; then to Volubilis, one of Morocco’s best-preserved Roman ruins. BD
We’ll explore Fez and some of the 9,000 narrow lanes, alleys and souks that make up the labyrinth of the city’s old quarter. We’ll visit Nejjarine Square, Fes El Jedid (New Fes), a pottery factory and more. BD
Today we journey through the impressive Atlas Mountains to Erfoud. Along the way we’ll stop in Ifrane to watch monkeys and Midelt, famous for its apples. BD
After breakfast, we will visit Erfoud, a small town on the edge of the desert known for its mining of fossils. Then we’ll travel to Merzouga where we’ll transfer to 4×4 vehicles and drive into the desert dunes to our luxury tented campsite. We’ll travel deeper into the dunes, by camel or jeep, to watch the glorious sunset. We’ll end our day with a mouth-watering dinner under the stars. BD
Leaving the desert behind, we’ll travel to Ouarzazate following the Dades Valley. We’ll visit the Todra Gorges, spectacular canyons on the east side of the High Atlas mountain range. Following the Thousand Kasbahs Route, we’ll marvel at the breath-taking vistas of hundred-year-old Kasbahs nestled in lush palm groves. We’ll visit a private museum showcasing local art, culture and history before arriving in Ouarzazate. BD
Once a stopping point for African traders, Ouarzazate is now a regional trade centre known for pottery and carpets. We’ll visit one of the most beautiful Kasbahs in Morocco – Glaoui Kasbah of Taourirt.. Then it’s on to Ait Benhaddou – a village that has been the star of many films such as Lawrence of Arabia. Our day will end in Taroudant, between the High and Anti Atlas mountains. BD
The town of Taroudant is nearly entirely surrounded by walls. Called ’little Marrakech’, it is the epitome of a Moroccan market town. Our visit today will include a horse and carriage ride around the walls of the city. BD
This morning we’re headed to the Atlantic coast and the city of Essaouira. We’ll visit an Argan Oil Cooperative before checking into our hotel and enjoying free time. BD
Essaouira is a city influenced by many cultures, including the Portuguese who fortified the city in the 16th century. We’ll explore the ramparts, the harbour, the fishing port and the Skala. Our lunch will be a fresh feast of seafood at a beach side restaurant. In the afternoon we can visit the souks. BLD
After breakfast, we head inland to the world-famous city of Marrakech, the heart-beat of Morocco. On our way, we’ll stop at a charming vineyard to sample the wine and goat cheese from the region. BL
Today, we discover the mysteries of Marrakech! We’ll explore the labyrinthine souks, the Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia mosque, Dar El Bacha and the Jardin Majorelle. We’ll also experience the Djemaa El Fna, the city’s main square where you’ll be entertained by musicians, snake charmers, acrobats, monkeys and more! In the evening, we’ll enjoy a special Farewell dinner to celebrate our wonderful time together. BD
Our last day in Morocco will be spent at leisure. Our guide will take us to the souks for some shopping in the morning. In the afternoon, we’ll return to Casablanca. The afternoon is yours to explore as you wish. BD
After breakfast we will transfer to the airport for our flight back to Canada. B
